Three months after Keira Knightley gave birth to a baby girl, we're finally learning her name: Edie! The Imitation Game actress opened up to Elle about being a new mom and about her husband James Righton.
One thing she credits Edie for giving her in only three months is a love she never knew she could have. "The love thing is astonishing," she says in the magazine's 30th anniversary issue. "It's a very primal, primal love. That's quite extraordinary."
Giving birth also gave her a new sense of self-love. "Also, I have to say, as a woman, you hate certain parts of your body," Knightley explained. "You go through those periods where you look in the mirror and you think, Oh, if only I had different legs or arms or whatever. You go through pregnancy and labor and then feeding the kid and you go, Wow, my body is totally amazing, and I'm never going to not like it again, because it did this, and this is ff&#*ing extraordinary."
Something that wasn't so extraordinary, she explains, is turning 30 when you're eight months pregnant. Luckily, husband James Righton came to the rescue ... sort of. "I was heavily pregnant, I couldn't drink — what is the point of having a thirtieth birthday if I couldn't get phenomenally drunk? But my husband took over, arranged a lovely lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, 20 of us, and they were all being so sweet, like, 'Look, you can have a great time and be sober!,'" she recalled. "And it's fine apart from the fact that they started drinking at about one."
We're so happy to hear about her sweet connection with little Edie, and can't wait to see photos!
