Musician John Legend and supermodel Chrissy Teigen are expecting their first child! The husband-and-wife Hollywood power-couple announced the happy news Monday night on Instagram, just weeks after the pair got candid on her daytime talk show about their struggle to conceive.
"John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant," Teigen captioned the image, a black-and-white shot of the couple laughing as they recline on a sofa, Legend's hand resting on his wife's abdomen. "As many of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family. We're so excited that it's finally happening. Thank you for all your love and well wishes. I look forward to all the belly touching!"
Just weeks ago, Teigen, 29, opened up about the couple's difficult pregnancy journey on her show, FABLife. "John and I were having trouble," she said on the show. "We would have had kids five, six years ago if it had happened. But, my gosh, it's been a process."
She later told People, "I wanted to talk about it for so long. It didn't feel right to ever tweet, 'Ugh, doing my IVF shots again.' It just sounded silly. It definitely was not planned in that episode at all."
Because of their own struggles, Teigen is quick to caution others from asking couples when they plan to start a family. "It's a sweet question," she has said. "It comes from a good place, but sometimes you never know what the person [is going through]. What you really want to say [is], 'I'm trying and I can't.'"
The model and cookbook author has always pictured a large brood of her own, revealing to the magazine in May, "I picture us with three or four. John and I go hard in everything we do. And we like a bit of chaos."
Legend, 31, and Teigen tied the knot in 2013 in a stunning ceremony in Lake Como, Italy, and just celebrated their second anniversary.
