The Duggar family loves celebrating every anniversary (marking Skypiversaries and engagement anniversaries is the norm for the married children), but daughter Jill and her husband Derick Dillard just commemorated one that has extra-special meaning for them: It's the one-year anniversary of their first hug!
The Duggar children, who are forbidden from front-hugging members of the opposite sex until after marriage and can only side-hug with supervision after engagement, clearly know how important physical contact is in a relationship. That's especially true for Jill and Derick, who inadvertently fully embraced after he returned from a missionary trip.
"A year ago today my best friend made it home from Nepal," Jill wrote on Instagram of her husband's return from his trip in early 2014. "Today I'm married to him and 32 weeks pregnant with our little man! We've been abundantly blessed this last year and are SO grateful to God!"
Derick also posted on his Instagram to mark the important day. "It's hard to believe that it's just 2 days short of a year ago that Jill and I embraced at this same place when I returned home from Nepal!" he captioned the above photo. "Then we were courting, now we're expecting our firstborn son in just 2 months! God is so good! #blessed #jilldillard #babydilly."
Though her parents were less than thrilled at their passionate hug, it was the first time they'd seen each other in person in months, and they were given a slight pass. Regardless, their slip-up didn't impede their happiness. The couple got engaged a few months later and married last June. Now, of course, they're expecting their first child together, due in March. Turns out that premature hug was a good omen!
