In April 2013, the country superstar filed for divorce after trying to make it work. And although he and Kerr have happily moved on, he's still getting heat for his affair. Just last week in an interview with Billboard magazine he expressed how fed up he is with a mistake from the past haunting him in the present.
"It has been two years of this s---," Aldean told the music magazine of his cheating scandal. "Get over it, already! And then when I finally do get enough of it and say something, every newspaper grabs it. And I'm not trying to get in the headlines — I'm just trying to get people to stop running their mouths."
Two months ago Aldean also defended himself on Instagram after backlash from his first red carpet appearance with Kerr at the CMT awards. In a caption he wrote: "So sick of people judging me and @brittanylkerr over things they know nothing about. I have made mistakes but i am a better person because of it, and wouldnt change a thing. Im happier than i have ever been, so thank u to all the people who support us. We are happy and life goes on. Its time to move on people. #aldeanarmy #oldnews #timetomoveon."
Despite all of the trying negativity, these two seem to be more in love than ever. We're not surprised they chose to get hitched, especially after the reaction Kerr had when she heard the news that close friends Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line and Hayley Stommel. She even regrammed the engagement photo Hubbard posted with a long, congratulatory message. Funny enough, Aldean and Kerr also recently took a romantic helicopter ride. There must be something in the air — literally!
From all of their loving messages, it seems like they're a really tight-knit duo.
