Brides.com: As someone who helps develop Trump Hotels and Resorts, you have an in-depth knowledge of space and location design. What were the most important details for you in choosing the ceremony and reception venue for your wedding?
Ivanka Trump: For the ceremony it was important to me to choose a location that would be intimate yet have an impact. As for the reception, the venue should have the ability to make people attending the wedding feel a part of the moment; keeping in mind the importance of having a nice flow to the room. With a lot of people attending such a reception, there should be enough room for table service flow and definitely enough room for a great dance floor!
was the perfect venue to achieve the ideal ceremony and reception I envisioned.
How should a bride decide on the perfect location? What questions should she ask herself?
Just like the dress and the jewels, a bride should ask herself, "does the venue feel representative of me?" Different brides are comfortable in different locations—it's an emotional decision that each bride has to make. Each bride has different priorities, one may dream of a big winter wedding while another may want a small wedding on the beach with just a few family and friends. She must first consider what size wedding she wants to have and in which season she wants the wedding to take place. These questions will all dictate the venue. For example, indoor or outdoor components and a facility for family and friends also is factored in.
Any tips for couples who'd like to have their reception at a hotel event space?
I would advise the couple to make sure that they are comfortable with the elements of the hotel that you can't change, such as the carpet, views, size of the space, etc. What is nice about a hotel venue is that there is the ability to have different parts and locations to your wedding: you can have the ceremony in a different place than cocktail hour and dinner. If a couple is using more than one or two rooms, I would advise them to make each room feel special and unique from the other to distinguish what occurs in each location.
Was it difficult to narrow down the final choices of locations for your wedding since you have so many options? What kinds of details helped you narrow down the list?
For me, I always knew that I would get married at a Trump location. Our golf clubs and hotels are really the most beautiful locations and any bride would be lucky to have one of these gorgeous locations be the setting of her wedding. Trump National Golf Club Bedminster has a classic feel to it, which is representative of my style. It is refined and elegant which is just what I was looking for in a choice of location. What I loved most about it is that it gives the ability to enjoy the gorgeous clubhouse and then be outside overlooking the beautiful landscape of this incredible golf course. I couldn't have asked for two better or more beautiful components.
What should the ideal location/venue be able to offer any bride?
I think the perfect venue gives the bride the ability to do everything there; rather than having to search everywhere for external vendors. For example,
has incredible food and an event coordinator who can assist in all aspects. The more a venue can provide for the bride, the less she has to worry about coordinating for her big day.
