Brides.com: Are you designing a specific piece of jewelry for your wedding day or for your bridal party?
Ivanka Trump: Yes. I am working with my design team to create the perfect jewels for my big day. To complement my dress, I will probably wear something estate from my collection because this certainly adds to the elegance of the night.
As a token of my appreciation, I have designed a piece of jewelry for my bridesmaids to be adorned in as well... (Shhh they don't know!)
It's great to give your bridesmaids something affordable yet meaningful and timeless. One of my favorite options are the rock crystal bead earrings on 18k pave diamond wire from my collection for $750.
What style of jewelry do you think you will choose—estate, trendy, other?
Heirloom chic creations from
. I'd like to be more of a classic bride. So I'm staying away from anything trendy, and sticking to simple and elegant accessories to complement the whole look.
How should a bride pick what kind of jewelry she'll wear on her big day?
Once a bride picks the gown and knows the neckline, she can then determine her jewels. Every bride needs a statement piece; however, some dresses call for a necklace and studs while others call for a great pair of earrings like my diamond tassel earrings pictured here. Just as a bride picks a gown that she's comfortable in and reflects her style, it is just as important for her to find jewelry that complements the dress and adds some sparkle for her big day.
What should a piece of jewelry say or signify of the woman who's wearing it?
I believe that a bride's jewelry selection is a reflection of her self and her style—whether it's a necklace, a bracelet or a pair of earrings, she has to be able to own her look. A bride should wear jewelry that suits her and not let the jewelry wear her!
Is the right jewelry as important as the right dress?
YES!!! The dress is worn one night only; but the jewelry and the photos last a lifetime.
