Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives star Guy Fieri will help put on one of the biggest gay weddings yet: He is officiating the 101 Gay Weddings event in Miami this Saturday, which will be held at the annual South Beach Food & Wine Festival.
Hosted by chef Art Smith at the luxurious James Royal Palm, People reports that the sizable nuptials will feature lavish details like a crazy confection from Ace of Cakes star Duff Goldman. After the resounding group "I do," couples will dine on delectable dishes from a variety of chefs featured at the festival and will dance the night away to sounds mixed by DJ Chi Chi Larue.
The most exciting aspect of this group wedding, though, is how the couples were selected to participate. Smith, who often uses the festival to throw his Big Gay Ice Cream Social to raise same-sex marriage equality awareness, reached out on social media to find the couples who will get hitched this coming Saturday. To participate, the first 101 couples to tweet at Smith with the #101GayWeddings were entered into the contest. The couples who were selected are allowed to bring two family members along to partake in the fun.
This Saturday's large-scale celebration is one of many recent same-sex group marriages to crop up lately. Just a few weeks ago newlywed Lance Bass attended a mass wedding in Ft. Lauderdale, and, of course, we can't forget how Queen Latifah officiated 33 gay couples's wedding at the 2014 Grammy's.
