Brides beauty columnist Drew Barrymore — actress, producer, and founder of Flower Beauty — is here to answer your questions. This time, she's covering wedding day cool bridal nail polish ideas, how to get a non-greasy beauty look, and workouts to tone up before the big day!
Q: Can I wear an edgy color on my nails for my wedding, or should I stick to pale pink?
You can absolutely do edgy nails on your wedding day, but I suggest keeping it in the paler tones. Anything dark against a white dress is going to be a jarring juxtaposition. Try a rose, coral, pale gray, butter yellow, or even green or blue if it's in the paste range. As long as there is a softness, go ahead and play. I hope you find exactly what you want for your perfect day!
Q: I love a dewy finish, but there's a fine line between that and oily skin. How can I get and maintain the look without it teetering into greasy territory?
One of the best parts of looking dewy is the light that reflects when you glisten. Take a highlighter (you can try Flower's Glisten Up! Or any brand that works with your coloring) and put it high on your cheekbones, along with your brow bones, and down the slope of your nose, with a tiny dot at the bow of your lips. Then feather it out with your finger and dab a bit of cream blush on the apples of your cheeks. You will pick up the light in the most amazing way, without looking greasy.
Q: Is there an at-home workout that you'd recommend?
Yes! There are great DVDs for the Bar Method. All you need are a pair of two-pound free weights and a chair back, which acts as a ballet bar. I've seen results after the first few weeks. But build your way up or you'll be more than sore. Slow and steady wins the race here!
