After working at a bridal magazine, we've pretty much seen it all — from super detailed Harry Potter-themed nuptials (complete with wands for the guests, of course) to a couple whose love for Costco certainly shined through in their stellar, if not hilarious, engagement pictures, there's nothing that can surprise us when it comes to all things wedding-related. Well, that's until we got a good look at one couple's over-the-top, extravagant Alice in Wonderland wedding that would put even Lewis Carroll to shame.
Natalia Kurrawa and her now-husband Rafael from Wroclaw, Poland spent a year agonizing over every detail of their Mad Hatter's tea party that just so happened to serve as the ultimate wedding bash. Before they even sipped from tea saucers and noshed on tiny sandwiches, the couple wed in a Catholic church in what we can only assume was more of a, well, traditional ceremony compared to their reception. As you can imagine from the photos, after they said their "I dos," all bets were off when it came to tradition.
Their reception, hosted at the Art Hotel, looked like it came straight out of Alice in Wonderland itself. "The venue featured brightly colored flowers, mismatched teacups, grass-covered tables, a topsy-turvy cake and playing cards," the Daily Mail reported. And guess who else showed up to the magical soireé? Their pet bunny, duh!
As cuckoo as you may think they are, the lovebirds actually have quite a sweet story behind their artistic reception décor. According to the Daily Mail, "Natalia, who met Rafael in a tearoom four years ago said, 'We both decided to have an Alice in Wonderland theme because the book means a lot to us. On the day we met, the Alice in Wonderland book was lying on the bookshelf next to our table. From that day on, we decided to go down the rabbit hole together, and we haven't looked back since.'"
"We wanted to take our guests on an extraordinary journey and show them our idea of a real wedding wonderland," Natalia noted. "Our reception even had a huge mirror which reflected the room, making it look like we were entering another world."
They're not mad like the Mad Hatter, they're just madly in love! Now, how do we get an invite to their next blow-out bash?
