At three different photo shoots for Brides' December/January issue, the name of the game was fresh, modern, and, most importantly, fun. At our Chelsea cover shoot, illustrious fashion photographer Patric Shaw chose to skip all the bells and whistles and shoot in natural light—no lighting, no backdrop, just a plain wall. Our model posed facing window overlooking the Hudson and let the afternoon sunshine work its magic. Our crackerjack hair and makeup team completed the look with a loose, casual updo, dewy cheeks, and a subtle pink lip.
On their way downstairs, our editors caught a whiff of coffee and peeked into another studio, where they found a genius artist making "coffee art" in the foam of a cappuccino! Photo director Nicole Hyatt caught a glimpse of Elvira's face in one cup.
"Let's Get Cozy" was shot in Chappequa, New York, in a spectacular all-glass Modernist house (luckily, we were proud to show off to anyone passing by!). Our model, who hails from Brazil, had a blast slipping on and off the season's most luxurious coats, jackets, wraps and shrugs. "We love bridal more than anyone, but it was so much fun to shoot such incredible ready-to-wear pieces at every price," says Nicole.
Back in New York, our editors oohed and aahed over the 33 show-stopping sparklers we shot for "Find Your New Rock Star." Photographer Levi Brown slipped each engagement ring on to the stems of seasonal flowers from the local market and snapped them over slabs of glass, making the whole scene doubly gorgeous. "It was spectacular to have so many rings on set!" Nicole says.
