When it comes to celebrity engagements, the announcement is usually (and quickly) heard round the world via paparazzi shots, social media, and speculative interviews. But when it came time for Benedict Cumberbatch to pop the question, he kept it old school, announcing his forthcoming wedding in British newspaper The Times.
Keeping with the long-used custom of putting it in print, Cumberbatch and his bride-to-be have relatively remained mute (aside from a brief message on Twitterr) about their engagement — and Hunter's sure-to-be gorgeous ring. Well, thanks to The Imitation Game's premiere in New York City last night, these two stepped out onto the red carpet together for the first time since Hunter said yes, and, lucky for us, she was wearing her engagement ring!

According to the snap on Us Weekly, Cumberbatch stuck to a tried-and-true favorite: a pav&3233; halo setting. The ring shape looks to be cushion, while the diamond center stone could either be cushion-cut or round-cut. Regardless, Hunter's ring finger is loaded with bling — the dusting of pavé diamonds is not only found on the halo but all along the ring's band too!
When Us Weekly asked the rising star how it feels to break millions of Sherlock fan's hearts, he answered in the cutest way possible: "Fine, in the sense that I've made one person's heart — the most important person in my life — very happy," he coolly finished.
Well in that case then, we're happy this British heartthrob has found his one true love — and a perfect ring to mark the occasion!
