Ben Harper's wife now has diamonds on the inside and on the outside! The singer discreetly married his girlfriend, social advocate Jaclyn Matfus, on New Year's Day.
People confirmed their still-new marriage earlier today, just two weeks after the couple was spotted posing cozily on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. The night was doubly celebratory for the newlyweds; Harper won his third Grammy that night for his recent release Get Up! in the Best Blues album category.
As befits most secret weddings, People reports that Harper and Matfus wed in a low-key ceremony. Though we don't know any other details yet, it certainly sounds like they're an activist-musical match made in heaven. They collaborated on a charity concert to raise funds to fight child trafficking in India a year ago, at which time Matfus told Telegraph India that she and Ben bonded over the issue early in their relationship.
Harper was especially skillful in distracting fans from noticing his marital status last month. Less than two weeks after tying the knot, he was busily tweeting announcements about concert dates for his reunited band, The Innocent Criminals.
This is the third marriage for Harper. He was most recently married to Laura Dern, who, along with her father Bruce Dern, walked the Oscars red carpet as a nominee for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Wild.
