While having your boyfriend ask for your dad's permission to propose is more of a traditional requirement, you and your dad might appreciate the small gesture. So how do you let your boyfriend know this? Some guys may already plan on doing this, but others might not. If you don't want to openly tell you boyfriend that he has to talk to your dad first, casually dropping hints about it might be your best bet. Here's how to do just that without scaring him off.
First of all, you shouldn't be conceded about "scaring him off." If you're thinking about your boyfriend asking your dad for permission to marry you, chances are you and your guy have already had serious discussions about your future. That said, there are a few things you can do to hint that you want your boyfriend to ask for your dad's blessing before he pops the question.
Let him know that your family is traditional. Maybe talk about how your dad asked your mom's dad for his permission and how happy your mom was when he did. Or tell him how close you and your dad are, and that his opinion on important things mean a lot to you.
If that doesn't work, spread the word through a friend to make sure the message gets relayed to your future husband.
