As we do each season, Brides asked designers showing Fall 2013 collections to grant us a sketched sneak peek at the gowns soon to hit New York runways. (Afterward, it's fun to compare the sketches to the real-life gowns they become.) Here, designer Michael Shettel pulls back the curtain on his latest Alfred Angelo wedding dresses:
Describe your collection in a word:
What inspired this season's theme?
The collection is inspired by beauty in motion. Soft, feminine silhouettes are paired with delicate accessories, while whimsical, ethereal draping and delicately gathered ruffles create a hint of vintage appeal. Flowers abound throughout the entire collection, with blooms of organza, net, and other unstructured fabrics adding a feeling of joy and lightheartedness to the gowns.
What is unique about this sketch in particular?
Modern brides are no longer limited to white. Yards of tulle swirling about in heavenly shades of café and delicate pinks offer color to create dimension. The sultry shape and hand-placed lace inspires a timeless look with a touch of retro charm.
