It's no secret that Adele's heart-wrenching songs are often the cause of an outpouring of emotions (crying, mostly...). But they had one fan really feeling the love at the singer's kickoff concert to her world tour earlier this week. Between songs at her Belfast performance on February 29, Adele, aware of the Leap Year tradition, invited any woman who wanted to propose to their sweethearts to hop up on the stage and pop the question! And one audience member took the opportunity to have her unsuspecting boyfriend "Make You Feel My Love!"
As the Leap Year tradition of women proposing to their loved ones originated in Ireland, what better place to pop the question than on the Belfast stage? Adele fan, Hayley, from Essex, England, certainly couldn't think of one! When the superstar singer began encouraging the women in the audience to get down on one knee, she hurried on stage at the SSE Arena.
Standing next to Adele, Hayley told her that she had actually proposed to her "One and Only" earlier that day. Her boyfriend's response? "Maybe in a little while." Um, excuse me? That definitely wasn't what this hopeful bride-to-be had in mind! His answer didn't sit well with Adele either, who immediately began pleading with the woman's boyfriend, Neil (who was also in the audience), to say yes. "You have to say a proper yes!" exclaimed the Grammy-winner. "After three, everyone, say, 'Come on, Neil!'" she encouraged the crowd. Hard to say no with over 11,000 people chanting at you, isn't it, Neil?
Neil did in fact end up accepting his now-fiancé's sweet gesture to the ecstatic cheers of the surrounding fans. "Send me an invite," Adele told the newly-engaged duo. "Essex? That's down the road from me. I'll come." Will Adele be the next celeb to moonlight as a wedding singer? One can only hope! (Just imagine that first dance... We're crying already)
