THEIR STORY
Sheela Parameswar first met John Stack at a housewarming party in 1999. The two quickly became friends—and then more than friends. "I was studying for the bar exam and John took really good care of me," Sheela recalls. "He'd make me dinners and really rally me along. He was better than any boyfriend I had ever had."
He intended to propose during a New Year's trip to New York City. "John had arranged for us to go on a carriage ride in Central Park, but I didn't want to go," Sheela says. "Then he suggested we visit the Empire State Building, but I said I'd rather do something else. I kept ruining the surprise." Undaunted, John finally asked Sheela to be his wife in a gazebo in Philadelphia, where they had stopped on their way back to Denver.
