THEIR STORY
Mark met Kerri, the sister of his best friend, Chris, nearly 13 years ago-but because of his strong ties to her brother, they each felt the other was "off limits." They spent plenty of time together at Marina Bay in Quincy, and after nine years as friends, Mark and Kerri realized there was something special between them.
One obstacle remained: her brother. Mark finally asked Chris for permission to date his sister. It took some convincing before Chris realized Mark wasn't going to ruin a long-standing friendship; he was serious about Kerri. They officially started dating around Christmas 2001, and moved in together a year later.
After Mark proposed, the couple set a September date, then booked their dream site, the Summer House at Marina Bay, where they'd met and fallen in love. “I wanted a slightly non-traditional, summer, casual, Friday-night-on-the-water, under-a-big-white-rent, have-a-blast-at-our-wedding type of event,” Kerry says. —Farah Ameen
