Bride: Sheri Ellis
Groom: Grant Patterson
Location: Cayman Islands
Both the ceremony and reception took place at Grand Old House, a historical Caymanian landmark that was established in 1908. The venue provided an elegant white design that allowed for flairs of soft yet vibrant plums, fuchsias and blues in a charming setting by the sea.
The bride wore a strapless, charmeuse gown with a French lace overlay by Casablanca that she purchased at Belle Bridal in Redondo Beach, CA. Sheri’s two bridesmaids wore long, satin burgundy gowns by Dessy, which kept them cool during the couple’s sunny ceremony.
Grant and his groomsmen wore tan tuxedos, also from Belle Bridals. Grant’s ivory vest and tie were complemented with color by a simple boutonniere made from a leonodis rose, orange vanda orchid, orange coxcomb and seeded eucalypts leaf.
The bouquets sat on a mantle in the wine room at Grand Old House as the wedding party prepared for the ceremony. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were made of fuchsia peonies, white roses, burgundy mini calla lilies, orange ranaculus and white lisianthus, tied in dark silk with pearl accents.
Sheri’s traditional yet sophisticated bridal bouquet consisted of white peonies, lisianthus, roses and orchids.
For the couple’s seaside ceremony, Lions Productions built a white lattice gazebo that was decorated with roses, peonies, lilies, dendrobium orchids, orange ranaculus and burgundy coxcomb. Large glass hurricane vases filled with sea shells, peonies and hydrangea lined the aisle.
Since the couple exchanged their vows at the end of a breezy dock, they were not able to have a traditional unity candle ceremony. Instead, they conducted a sand ceremony where the bride and groom poured sand from two small vases into a larger one—symbolizing their unity as well as their family and friends’.
Sheri’s first wedding gift was a pair of pink flip-flops with the words "Just Married" embossed on the bottom. As she walked down Seven Mile Beach on the coast of Grand Cayman, Sheri literally left her footprints everywhere.
Miniature gold and crystal chandeliers hung in between sheer silk voile ceiling treatments that framed the long dinner table at the reception to create a fancy and sophisticated atmosphere for the outdoor party.
Low, modern centerpieces of roses, peonies, tulips and lisianthus, along with flickering votives, ran the length of the single reception table, creating a lush and dramatic visual.
The baker at the Grand Old House created this two-tier butter cake with lemon curd, fresh strawberries and cream filling. An intricate sugar piece made to look like orange coral added a Caymanian flair.
To keep the warm, romantic feel alive at the couple’s reception, Lions Productions used drapes and colored uplighting to decorate the plain, white tent at the Grand Old House.
At night, the gazebo and rod iron candelabras lit up and became the focal centerpiece for a large open dancing area.
Sheri and Grant exited their reception through a train of sparklers held by their guests. The couple spent several days in Grand Cayman after their wedding before leaving for the second leg of their honeymoon in Turks and Caicos.
