“I wanted the look of a sophisticated French bouquet,” says Michelle, so her florist, Amoroso Flower Shop in Trenton, selected hydrangeas, calla lilies, roses and delphiniums, and tied the stems together with a silver organza ribbon.

The couple’s 45 guests were treated to French cuisine at Rat’s restaurant at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton. The couple chose the venue for its comfortable but elegant atmosphere.

Michelle wore a faux-fur stole to add a touch of Hollywood glamour to their civil ceremony on the outdoor terrace at Rat's restaurant. They lit blue unity candles from glassdimensions.com to symbolize the joining of their two lives.

Peter Max Dierkes, the pastry chef at Rat’s, made this French white-chocolate buttercream-frosted and bitter-chocolate-glazed cake. Fresh blue-and-white hydrangeas adorned the cake, and a monogram designed by the invitation calligrapher, Dayna Bischof, inspired the blue Swarovski crystal cake topper from topperswithglitz.com.

Eric wanted to include the African-American tradition of jumping the broom in their wedding, so after guests finished their meal and moved into the Dance Pavilion, Eric and Michelle entered the room, jumping over the broom. The broom, which was decorated with bold-colored ribbon by Amoroso’s Floral Shop, is now on display in the couple’s home.

Instead of leaving messages in a sign-in book, guests used an etching pen on this tray from The Silver Gallery to write wishes to the couple. Michelle and Eric covered it with clear glass after the wedding, and they currently use it as a serving tray.
