The bride wanted the reception to have a very modern look, in contrast to the traditional feel of her parents' home in the countryside. To disguise the poles supporting the large tent, branches were cut from neighboring trees, then spray-painted silver. They were then draped with garlands fashioned out of 15,000 tiny orchids imported from Hawaii. Spotlights, surrounded by cobblestones and sphagnum, were placed at the base of the poles.
