The late morning ceremony took place among giant willow trees in a meadow on the grounds of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The service was performed by Reverend Richard Leonard of All Souls Unitarian Church, and included readings from William Shakespeare and Kahlil Gibran. A small wind ensemble, consisting of a trombonist, two saxophone players and two flutists—all friends of the groom—played selections including “Claire de Lune“ by Claude Debussy.
