Haute off the Press
Olivier Giugni, an NYC-based floral designer and 2007 MB Trendsetter, finds fashion to be a fitting inspiration for reception decor since clothes play such a significant role in couples' celebrations. “Everyone loves to dress up for a wedding!” he says, and, to him, Pucci prints epitomize the sophisticated yet fun sensibility many brides and grooms strive for on their big day. So we teamed up with Giugni and styled a soiree honoring the Italian fashion icon's vibrant aesthetic. The swirling pattern of Vivara by Emilio Pucci perfume bottles, $85 each, sephora.com, which serve as favors, prompted the other reception elements, including the stationery.
Pucci Paper
The boldly elegant tone of the reception is established from the start with this letterpressed invitation, $30 for the three-piece set, from Karisa Winkel Design, karisawinkeldesigns.com.
A Cut Above
Of course, Pucci's trademark fluid lines appear everywhere, from the stationery to the tabletop to hanging floral works of art that Giugni likens to “living sculptures.” Here, murals made of framed roses and lisianthus give new meaning to the term wallflowers. They contrast with the subtle centerpieces of roses, $245 each, and dusty miller (chosen for its velvety texture, which is reminiscent of fabric), $205 each, in modern vases designed by Giugni and Jeff Goodman, lolivier.com. Colored glasses and votives play up the Pucci-esque tablecloth. “Happy O” wine tumblers, $60 for set of four, from Riedel, riedel.com. Plates, chargers, champagne flutes and water glasses from Party Rental Ltd, partyrentalltd.com. Linens from Resource One, Inc, resourceone.info. Furniture from Greenroom/Rental Furniture, yourgreenroom.com.
Best Dressed
A Pucci-inspired vintage ribbon from Tinsel Trading Company, tinseltrading.com, gives this purple linen guest book, $20, from Paper Presentation, paperpresentation.com, a touch of panache. Purse pen, $85, from Tiffany & Co, tiffany.com.
Perfect Patterns
Plexiglas napkin rings embellished with orchids complement the table's contemporary look, while Hermès flatware, hermes.com, furthers the fashion-forward theme. Place card, $3; and menu card, $6, both from Karisa Winkel Design, karisawinkeldesigns.com.
Tailor Made
Rich purple ribbon wrapping and a double row of pearl pins give this bouquet of fuchsia and chocolate calla lilies with variegated grass a couture edge, $295. Flowers by L'Oliver Floral Atelier, lolivier.com.
Fashionable Food
Even the presentation of this seared yellowfin tuna “Cru et Cuit” tartare with capers, Sorrento lemon vinaigrette, grilled radicchio and balsamic bordelaise is highly stylized. All food by Daniel Boulud's Feast & Fetes Catering, NYC, danielnyc.com.
Men of Style
A chocolate calla lily, fuchsia calla lily, $35 each, and pink rose boutonniere, $25, coordinate with the bridal bouquet and centerpieces. Flowers by L'Oliver Floral Atelier, lolivier.com.
Vintage Vibe
Sleek, sophisticated furniture from Greenroom/Rental Furniture—a white sofa with “Disco Lady” pillow from Jonathan Adler, jonathanadler.com, white leather ottomans and a Plexiglas table—transforms the outdoor deck of Giugni's floral atelier into a '70s-style lounge. Oversized Lucite planters illuminate green and white dendrobium orchids (also in the vase on the table). Appetizers of asparagus quiche, beet mille-feuille and scallop ceviche served in the shell look like miniature works of art. The signature cocktail, a pink mojito created by Xavier Herit, head bartender at Daniel restaurant in NYC, stands out in “Louvre” beer glasses, $85 each, from Lalique, lalique.com.
Couture Cake
This white lemon cake filled with blueberry cream studded with fresh blueberies, and covered in sculpted fondant, also takes its cue from Pucci's psychedelic patterns. Serves 250, $4,500, by Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, NYC, weddingcakes.com.
