You've always wanted to be on a reality TV show. Well, maybe not. But it seems like these days, everyone you know is either on one, talking about one or too busy to talk because they're watching one compulsively.
Looking to get in on the action? Lucky for us, reality TV loves weddings. We took some time to investigate all things bridal, from the familiar (Bridezillas) to the offbeat (My Big Redneck Wedding) and we met a diverse cast of characters, all of whom have a particular talent or reason for providing us with limitless entertainment.
We've condensed it all into a helpful guide for your viewing pleasure. So grab the remote and get ready for some big laughs.—Melanie Baevsky
The Series: Wedding Day
The Plot: Communities come together to give deserving couples the wedding of their dreams with the help of experts Diann Valentine and Alan Dunn.
Our Take: Break out a box of tissues if you are settling down to watch this tear-jerking reality drama. You're in for compelling stories and beautiful weddings, but I do have to admit that the show drags a little, making you feel that each episode is longer than an hour.
See It: Saturdays, 9am on TNT
The Series: Bridezillas
The Plot: Bridezillas is back for a sixth season. Watch women go crazy as wedding plans consume their lives.
Our Take: You don't want to watch egotistical brides go insane, but you can't. Turn. Away! Bridezillas is edited and arranged in such a way to make the brides look as monstrously far from a semblance of normalcy as possible. It makes for entertaining television simply because you're not the one stomping about furiously on national television.
See It: Sundays, 9pm on WEtv
The Series: My Fair Wedding
The Plot: Celebrity wedding planner David Tutera and his dream team rescue couples whose weddings are headed toward potential disaster. David's philosophy of "celebrating your life in style" adds excitement to expertise as he turns ordinary wedding events into extraordinary ones.
Our Take: David Tutera gracefully leaps over every imaginable bump in the road as he turns bridal visions into magical realities. His party planning experience is evident and his charm is inspiring. He’s an absolute pleasure to watch! You'll go from thinking This wedding is never going to happen to wishing you were there.
See It: Sunday, September 27th, WEtv
The Series: Happily Ever Faster
The Plot: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Not with this show! Watch husband-wife team Jason and Holly Meyers run Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas, the marriage capital of the world.
Our Take: Take a front row seat at Chapel of the Flowers where every kind of couple imaginable comes through to tie the knot. Stories range from heartwarming and hysterical to truly peculiar, and they all entertain in true Vegas fashion.
See It: Friday, October 2nd on TLC
The Series: Masters of Reception
The Plot: Robert and Jerry Frungillo give a behind the scenes look at their catering and event planning company, which has served everyone from Frank Sinatra to the Pope. Each episode follows the brothers and their team as they prepare for upcoming weddings.
Our Take: Masters of Reception, produced by TV personalities Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, is very relatable. Although the concept is a bit run-of-the-mill, the Frungillos make it their own with incredible energy and trademark Italian accents. This is a feel good show.
See It: Tuesday, August 18th at 10pm on TLC
The Series: Say Yes to the Dress
The Plot: Selecting, fitting, altering and delivering a picture-perfect dress is no easy task! Part fashion show, part bridal story, part family therapy—this series reveals the inner workings of the world's premier bridal salon, Kleinfeld Bridal.
Our Take: It's fun to watch girls try on dozens upon dozens of styles. You get a good idea of what’s available, and the interspersed designer advice is quite helpful. Each episode features multiple stories, and they're most enjoyable when you have the same sense of style as the shopper.
See It: Friday, September 11th at 10pm on TLC
The Series: Amazing Wedding Cakes
The Plot: Follow incredible cake designers as they push the boundaries in creating unique wedding cakes. These icing artists astonish brides and grooms across the country with their fantastic, elaborate and delicious creations.
Our Take: Watching these professionals turn ideas into edible reality is truly inspiring. The show takes you behind the scenes where you see the good (masterpiece conception and completion), the bad (change in budget), and the ugly (cake on the floor). You'll be amazed at what these teams can do, and it'll inspire any bride to get creative in her own wedding plans. Bonus: your fiancé will love it, too!
See It: Tuesdays, 10pm on WEtv
