Question:
What are the financial responsibilities of the groom's family? We're getting conflicting information.
Answer:

Traditionally, the hosts of the wedding were the bride's parents, which meant they picked up the tab for just about everything. The groom's family, on the other hand, would cover the bride's engagement and wedding rings, formalwear for the groom (plus his father's and his mother's attire), the bride's bouquet, corsages for mothers and grandmothers and boutonnieres for the groomsmen. They also absorbed the cost of the marriage license, transportation after the reception and the honeymoon. Today, the rules are looser and couples and their families are coming up with a plan that works for all involved, with the groom's family often contributing as much as half of the cost of the reception.
