Male Review
Must-have fall details for the men in your wedding
As the bride, it’s only natural that most of your focus has been on your wedding day style, but it’s important to remember the male members of your bridal party: the groom, groomsmen, dads and ring bearer. We’ve discovered the perfect details to complement both your autumn wedding theme and the men in your wedding. —Anne Chertoff
Wood You?
While planning all the details for your wedding, don’t overlook the little ones. These ring "pillows" are made from birch and are ideal for your fall ceremony. Each slice of wood measures approximately four inches in diameter and one inch high and comes with a double-face silk satin ribbon (available in myriad colors) to securely tie your rings in place. $10 at Muscari Design.
Howdy, Partner
While the bride’s cake will be more traditional in style and shape, your groom’s cake can be as creative and untraditional as you or he wants it to be. Whether you’re surprising your groom or he’s involved in the plans, choose a design that truly represents his interests. These hand-sculpted cowboy boots and shoebox are made from carrot cake with vanilla buttercream and covered in rolled fondant. The entire design is 100 percent edible. Created by Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes. Prices start at $1,000.
Put a Cork in It
Are you getting married at a vineyard? These chrome corkscrew cuff links ($29) are the natural accessory for your wine- or vineyard-themed wedding. Resembling antique corkscrews, the links twist through shirt cuffs. And don’t forget to buy a pair for each of your groomsmen too. They’d make a great (and affordable) gift. Available at cuff-daddy.com.
Grooming the Groom
Your groom will want to make sure his face is picture-perfect, and while he won’t be hiring a makeup artist, he’ll definitely need some grooming the morning of the wedding. The Art of Shaving's travel kit contains everything your groom will need for a super shave: pre-shave oil, shaving cream, aftershave balm, a shaving brush and a razor. This $200 kit comes in a leather carrying case, so after the wedding he can toss it in his suitcase for the honeymoon.
Grooming tip: The most important part of shaving is using pre-shave oil beforehand to protect skin from nicks and cuts as well as ingrown hairs.
Raise Your Glass
If your groom is planning to make a speech or toast at your wedding but the words aren’t coming easily, get him some professional help. Instant Wedding Toasts offers brides and grooms, as well as the best man, maid of honor and anyone else who plans on speaking, the direction and help they need to make a heartfelt and memorable toast. The company offers templates and examples specific to each member of the wedding for a onetime (and lifetime) fee of $24.95.
Gone Fishin’
If your fiancé prefers to spend his weekends on the high seas, this "Fishing Boots" cake by Ron Ben-Israel is the ideal groom’s cake for your wedding. All the fishing accessories featured—fishing boots, fishing flies, his BlackBerry (in case work calls or e-mails) and, of course, fish—are made from sugar. While all the elements are edible, the actual cake is a pair of boots. The couple who ordered this design chose a chocolate cake with a dash of Grand Marnier, chunky peanut butter and chocolate cream fillings with dark chocolate ganache. Price available upon request.
In Case of Emergency
Though the groom may not be stressing over every little wedding day detail, he may still have a wedding day emergency. Because he won’t think of it himself, order your fiancé the Groom’s Survival Kit by Ms. & Mrs. This $49 big-day must-have is filled with every item he may need: stain remover, mending kit, bandages, mints and even extra wedding bands! With this kit in hand, both you and your groom will have one less thing to worry about.
Wine Lovers
Do you and your fiancé consider yourselves wine connoisseurs? This wine bottle and crate cake would be the right fit for both your location and theme. While this wine looks like you should serve it with dinner, the entire design is a rich chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream covered in rolled fondant. Designed by Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes. Prices start at $1,000.
