Wearing of the red
Courtesy of Wai-Ching.com
We feel like we should be writing about 'the wearing of the green' today given it's St. Patrick's Day and all, but we didn't find too many green-accented wedding gowns. We did, however, come across redhotbrides.com a resource for those courageous types looking to add a bit of firey drama to their ensemble. The Web site which provides articles and photos about red or partially red wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, is geared for a modern, non-conformist bride who wants to stand out. In that vein, the site also highlights other colored wedding gowns or those that incorporate color. FYI, whereas white dresses (symbolizing purity) are the traditional choice here in the U.S., red is the traditional color (symbolizing luck and joy) for wedding gowns in many Asian cultures. A friend of ours whose husband is Chinese incorporated both traditions wearing a white gown for her wedding ceremony and then changed into a red striking strapless dress (our favorite!) for the reception.
