For goodness cakes
Courtesy of For Goodness Cakes
We've seen it all when it comes to fondant cakes. They're lovely, but if truth be told, they sometimes taste a tad artificial. But what if you could have your cake and (ahem) eat it too? Melonie Stanger of For Goodness Cakes is a miracle worker, crafting moist cakes with buttercream icing as smooth and sexy as fondant.
That's right: tasty buttercream, all prettified and modern. Melonie works alone, and what you get is cake artistry, inside and out (she attends cake conventions every year, and has a licensed commercial kitchen, so her one-woman operation is tip-top).
Her signature flavors? Orange velvet, a creamsicle cake with white chocolate cream cheese icing. A close second is her champagne cake with raspberry filling. For a fall wedding I'd go for the pumpkin white chocolate cake, or surprise guests in spring or summer with a strawberry cream confection. Supercute bonus: she also makes darling mini-cakes in two sizes that would be perfect for a first-anniversary or to give away as favors.
