Catering
Description:
Delicious, custom-designed, homemade foods. A menu created just for you based on your specific preferences, your theme, your style, and your budget. A young and energetic team who stays with you "until the cows come home". A friendly and personal approach to "catering" for your wedding. Artistic and creative presentations only matched by their taste.
When you hire The Chef Next Door to cater your wedding, you are hiring a fresh and innovative caterer who constantly strives to improve upon every event. We have NO pre-set menus, NO pre-set pricing, and NO limits! Each and every wedding is unique, and every menu is completely custom-made to suit the Bride and Groom, their families, their guests, their location, their style, and their budget. We take everything from your wedding colors to the food you ate on your first date into account when creating your menu, and we make sure to spend as much time perfecting our presentations as we do hand-crafting your delectables. "Running out of food" is not in our vocabulary, and we are proud to be known for our abundance of left-overs as opposed to the opposite. We welcome suggestions from our Brides for new and exciting hors d'ouerves, entrees, signature drinks, and so forth...we would be changing our menus so often that we don't bother to have them! If our photos and testimonials aren't enough to sell you, just come in for a free consultation and find out why Chef Margaret and The Chef Next Door will be quickly added to your speed dial list.
What you will get with The Chef Next Door:
-You almost never see photos of food at weddings because, well, it almost always looks the same...unless you hire us. Photographers can't help themselves from snapping several pictures of our creative displays.
-You will typically hear "the food is good" at a wedding....until you hire us. Then you hear words like "OMG this food!" "Where did you find this caterer?!?" "I've not had a single thing that isn't HEAVENLY!" "The Chef is a Culinary Goddess!" "Holy cow, how is there still so much food left? I'm on my 6th plate!" True stories.
-I'm sure you've heard horror stories of food running out before everyone has even gone through the line once. Never has and never will happen. GUARANTEED. Mothers of the Brides are usually overwhelmed with the amount of left-overs they have to take home.
-We painstakingly make custom-colored, hand-cut paper food labels for three reasons...(1) to help incorporate your color scheme into our display and make your wedding even that much more cohesive. (2) so your guests know exactly what they are about to put in their mouths. (3) for you to keep for a scrapbook, if you like.
-Our team is led by a young culinary school graduate who has worked in fine-dining establishments as well as large prestigious catering companies, so she knows better than to take "short cuts" or use convenience items. Call us crazy, but if we are putting Pulled Pork BBQ or Bacon-wrapped Scallops on your menu, WE.ARE.GOING.TO.MAKE.IT.OURSELVES.
-It's all about the details, so even if we aren't handling these items for you already, we will gently remind you of those little things you might overlook such as ice, cake cutters/servers, a box for the topper cake, etc. We've seen it all!
Things you WON'T get with The Chef Next Door:
-Running out of food.
-Thaw and serve Quiches/Pinwheels; pre-cooked pulled BBQ meats; frozen fish fillets; instant mashed potatoes; store-bought dessert assortments; thaw and serve appetizers of any kind (Bacon-wrapped Tenderloin Medallions, Spanikopita, etc.). We actually make all of our foods.
-Unkempt, Craigslist-found servers playing on their cell phones, taking frequent smoke-breaks, and just looking to make a few bucks. Our staff consists of our closest friends and often-times, family. We are clean, professionally-dressed, and friendly.
-Packing up the food before the party ends. My personal pet-peeve. We wait until the party is over or we are given the go-ahead by the person who wrote the check. Then we package up ALL of the leftovers for YOU to keep. Nothing comes back to the store with us.
-Trying to tell you what it is that you want or don't want. Another pet peeve of mine. Some Brides want some wacky things, but it's YOUR wedding. You want tea sandwiches at an elegant evening wedding or a Filet Mignon dinner at a casual backyard daytime wedding? Fine with us! It's your day.
