Southern Oaks Plantation is set on more than three acres of manicured grounds. It is a charming and opulent estate, and a picturesque setting for photography. Unlike many historic properties, the indoor spaces at Southern Oaks have been renovated specifically for weddings. The charming rooms at the front of the mansion open into a glamorous ballroom, which becomes the focal point of the reception. New Orleans is a city known for its culinary excellence, and Southern Oaks Plantation embraces this tradition wholeheartedly. Although the atmosphere is magical and the service impeccable, cuisine is the keystone of their business. Each celebration at Southern Oaks Plantation incorporates an all-inclusive, hand-passed menu of over eighty different items. The food is brilliantly presented and constantly served. Set on three and a half acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, Southern Oaks Plantation is located directly across from the Lake Pontchartrain levee on Hayne Boulevard. The property features a majestic, antebellum-style mansion and elaborate garden areas for the ceremony and photography backdrops.
How does your venue determine the cost of the space? Pricing for each celebration is dependent on the specific date of the event, as well as the number of guests expected to attend.
Do you offer any special services? Absolutely! Beautiful outdoor ceremonies, horse-drawn carriages, elaborate fireworks displays, and an all-inclusive menu of over 80 hand-passed items are just a few of the unique offerings at Southern Oaks Plantation.
Do you offer additional items for the ceremony? Ceremonies include the set up and take down of white chairs provided by Southern Oaks on the lawn of the plantation, a loudspeaker system with one microphone and the music of your choice synchronized to the event, and coordination of the entire ceremony. We also provide full staffing before and during the ceremony, including greeters who will welcome your guests as they enter the grounds of the Plantation, and a uniformed doorman who adds another touch of Southern hospitality to your celebration.
Do you rent other items such as linens, tables, or flatware? All of our pricing is based on a reception package, which includes catering, open bar, DJ and sound system, personal attendants for the bride and groom, guest book, tables, chairs, and linens, centerpieces and floral arrangements, security through the New Orleans Police Department, an electric tram to shuttle guests between the parking lot and the front door of the plantation, and more!
What is your staff-to-guest ratio? Depending on the size of the celebration, anywhere from 1:9 to 1:15.
Do you require clients to use a specific list of vendors? No. Clients may use any vendors they choose, although we do provide a list of suggested companies.
Can the client provide their own alcohol if desired? Yes, although a full open bar is provided for every celebration, serving beer, wine, champagne, mixed drinks, frozen daiquiris, and non-alcoholic beverages.
What restrictions (if any) on decorations? There are many ways to customize the dııııcor for your celebration, including bringing in your own centerpieces, floral arrangements, votive candles, and decorations for the tabletops, cake table, foyer table, sign-in table, and bar. However, Southern Oaks is beautifully decorated, and there is no need to change out the dııııcor unless you want a fully customized look. Unfortunately, we cannot change out our table linens, chair sashes, chairs, or cushions.
Does your venue often accommodate more than one event at a time? Never. We are a private venue, and focus all of our attention on one celebration at a time.
Do you offer security, if requested? Security is provided for every event through the New Orleans Police Department.
Describe your parking facilities: We have our own private, on-site, gated and lighted parking lot, which can accomodate 100 vehicles. Additional overflow parking is available along the easement of Hayne Boulevard and on the residential streets behind Southern Oaks.
