How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing? It may seem counter-intuitive, but a fantastic gimmick to "heat up a cold dance floor" is to play a *slow* song...A song like "At Last" attracts reluctant people to a "cold" dance floor like white on rice. After the dance floor is full, a classic like "Brown Eye Girl" gets them shaking their booties. Another trick is for one or both singers to come down from the stage and impromptu teach a line dance.
