Description: Rockin' Receptions with Next Exit Youre celebrating the biggest day of your life. When all the formal stuff is over and its time to let your veil down (or would that be up?), you want folks off their seats and on their feet. You want to throw a party that friends and family will be talking about for years. Where's the fun in playing air guitar to a pre-recorded track when Uncle Bob could be rockin' out, shoulder to shoulder, with a Next Exit ax grinder? So ditch the DJ and literally liven things up. Why? People will stick around for the party - There's little mystery in a DJ, but fill a stage with keyboards, guitars and drums, and people want to see what it's all about. Better memories - With so much happening, there's always a reason to have your camera ready. It's just more fun - Guitarists roaming the dance floor, a bridesmaid shaking the tambourine, even the bride and groom playing a little cowbell. But it's not "all show".... Next Exit does more than simply put on a great performance for a few hours at the end of the reception. In addition to the live show itself, Next Exit offers the following services: - Master of Ceremonies (all of the announcing) - Planning via an online sheet that is also accessible to the band that walks you through creation of the reception itinerary and music selection. - Pre-recorded music during cocktail hour, dinner, introductions, special dances and breaks. Next Exit has a large library of tunes from which to choose, or you can provide your own. - If cocktail hour is in another room in the hall, a small sound system can be provided for the area. - Wireless microphone for toasts, speeches, etc. - Sound reinforcement for the ceremony is also available Its in the details Putting on a great live show involves much more than a group of good musicians. The performers may be great, but what matters is the overall presentation. For this you need well-planned production with a sound system made up of quality components. Here are some of the thing Next Exit does to produce a successful event: - The modern and efficient sound system is complete with subwoofers and, if needed, side fill speakers that allow folks on either side of the performance area to hear announcements. - Much of the lighting uses extremely efficient LED technology. This not only minimizes heat, but drastically reduces power requirements of the venue. - Backups of all critical gear allow the show to go on no matter what. - At the end of the night, the band packs up in under an hour. This minimizes clean up time, meaning you dont have to rent the hall for as long. Where the rubber meets the road ... what are people saying about At the end of the day all that really matters is how successful the event was. Its quite likely you will have never seen the band in person prior to booking them. We have many comments from past wedding clients available on our website.

Frequently Asked Questions for Band
Are you an agency or a band? Band
What is the size of your band? Medium (4-6 musicians)
What music genre does your band play? 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Classic Rock, Dance, Oldies, Pop, Rock
Do you have liability insurance? No
What is your band's usual attire? It's up to the client. We have formal and business casual coordinating attire.
Do you offer live sample performances or CDs? While a CD can be sent, our typical delivery method for sample material is or website. We have a media player and YouTube videos on the site and mp3s can be downloaded as well.
Are you willing to learn songs that you do not currently know? Generally no, but it's not out of the question. It just depends on if it's something we can add to our regular playlist. If so we'll consider it. If not we generally won't as we don't want your event to be the one and only time we play the selection. It's not going to be as good as it otherwise would be if the song had been played out several times prior. I'd question any band that tells you otherwise. We like to give a concert experience with songs that are well rehearsed, and vibrant and not struggle with trying to get through a large songbook reading off of a music stand.
How much time do you usually need for setup? Generally we arrive 2 hours prior to the event. This allows us to load in, setup, put away our cases, sound check, and change clothes prior to the arrival of the guests
How much space do you usually require? Our contract specifies an area 12 feet deep by 16 feet wide. We can get by with less, but it could effect the performance if we're overcrowded. We don't require a stage, but also do not own a stage so if it's desired it must be sourced elsewhere.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events? We generally have a sign on the drums. This is optional, of course.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service? We provide lighting for the performance as well as dance area. This includes LED "moon flower" effects, a red and green laser. We also use a hazer, which is not the same as fog. Hazers do not produce clouds of smoke, but rather haze that you can't even see under regular lighting. It's used to enhance the beams of light without filling the room up with "smoke". It's odorless and unnoticeable except around the performance area under "show lighting".
Do you usually emcee the event, or talk between songs? Yes, we provide emcee services. We keep the talking between songs to a minimum and try to keep the music rolling.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing? We generally have great crowd participation (see the videos section). When we don't we'll change up the song types, maybe try a sing along. We suggest to clients before hand to "seed the dance floor" by having the bride , groom and wedding party dance to the first few songs. Once the ice is broken the party generally takes off. The singer will go out on the dance floor during the sing alongs and let people sing the chorus into the microphone. In the end though you need to ask yourself if you have a "dancing group". If not, no band or DJ, is going to whip a crowd into a frenzy if it's just not the crowd's thing. In this case the expense of a band or DJ may not be warranted. That said, don't think that just because the dance floor isn't packed all night that people aren't enjoying themselves. Especially with older crowds, you'll find they sit and enjoy the music more than dance. We get a ton of compliments at the end of the night from people I didn't see on the dance floor all night.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you need a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal? We generally do take short breaks of 5-10 minutes depending on the event and timing. Sets can vary from 45 - 75 minutes, but are usually around 60 minutes. Often we'll do the bouquet and garter tosses during a break. Meal requirements depend on the event, are outlined in the contract and would occur prior to the performance (we won't stop to eat). Generally meals are required, but can be of the "boxed lunch" variety.
Do you play recorded music during your break? Yes
If one or more of the band members is unable to attend, what is your backup plan? While this has never occurred, we understand the concern. It would depend on the situation. If it were a case of the drummer breaking an arm 2 weeks before the wedding we'd seek a replacement. If were a "day of" emergency we'd seek a replacement band, upon the approval of the client, or offer to "DJ" the event at a reduced rate to the full band.
What is your overtime rate? Overtime is $200 per 30 minutes
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge? Sure... It's figured into the cost and varied depending on how far and if an overnight stay is required. There are no open ended fees though. What is contracted is the final price.
What is the required deposit to secure your services? Deposits are generally around $800.
