Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
What primary photographic style do you identify with? Contemporary, Photojournalism, Portraiture
What do your packages include? Albums, Custom Graphic Design, Digital Files, High Resolution Images, Prints, Proof CD of All Images
Do you have liability insurance? No
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning? I do!! I set my cameras up to shoot very flat colors. This allows the camera to take in so much more information and detail. I will then go through every photograph and add colors and enhance all of the images for you.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations? Being a photographer in Colorado, I have to be prepared for any situation. I am completely set up to do an outdoor wedding, or an indoor wedding.
Is your media preference film or digital? My preference is Digital. As a kid, I was taught only with film cameras, but I feel that with Film, there is more risk of something going wrong with the roll of film, or even camera. I definitely think that digital is way more reliable.
How many photographers do you work with? I am a one man shop. However, I have a 3 other Photographers that I often hire out to second shoot with me. They are all incredible photographers, and people who I can trust to be by them selves.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event? Absolutely!! Honestly, it would take something HUGE for me not to make a wedding. Part of the reason I feel that Brides hire me is because of my personality. So being at the wedding is my highest priority.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend? I will never and have never booked 2 weddings for the same day. I am very very organized and take pride in that. Often times, espcially in the Fall season I will book a few Engagement Sessions on the same Saturday or something like that, but never 2 weddings. I often try not to book 2 weddings on the same weekend. Something a bride will beg and beg, so I will, but I try not to.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event? I do! Like I mentioned earlier, I have around 3 other photographers that I will often hire to second shoot. They are people I completely trust to be at a wedding if for some crazy reason I am not able to attend.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of? I bring everything that I can to the wedding to insure I am covered at all angles. I have my 2 High-end DLSRs on me with different lenses. I also have 4 flashes I can set up around the venue that are triggered by one of my cameras. Often times DJ's love to have the reception to be very dark, so putting up flashes gives me the light I need to capture those fun reception moments.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction? I do. I bring my gear bag with me, and it has about 5 different lenses, batteries, CF cards, and Flashes just in case something terrible happens. Knock on wood, nothing bad has happened yet.
Do you charge hourly or full day? All of my packages are based on time. I don't however say its "hourly" though. I put in about 30-40 hours of total time in each wedding. From meeting with the bride and groom, engagement sessions, the actual wedding, and then editing and printing. So I fear calculating out hourly would be a little depressing to me. :o)
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours? Absolutely!!! It's $75.00 to book me for any additional time.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal? I don't require a meal, but I wouldn't ever refuse food. :o) Usually while the Bride and Groom are eating, I will hang back and take a little break. Usually people are not in-to having their photo taking while they are filling their mouths with food. Also, part of my packages is a Same day Edit Slideshow, and this is when I will actually put that together.
Do you charge for travel? Nope. I feel that a Bride and Groom are investing a large amount of money for me and my services. So I don't want to nickle and dime them with petty fees. HOWEVER, if the wedding happens to be outside of COLORADO, then we would need to talk about travel fees.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing? Generally the Bride and Groom will have all of their Digital Negatives, and Photography Disks within 8 weeks of the wedding date. In those 8 weeks, I will put up Facebook samples, and BLOG that way they can start seeing images sooner.
In what format are the initial proofs offered? I print out all the digital negatives and put them in a nice album. That way they can take a quick look at all the photographs they will be receiving without having to put every disk in.
How long can the client keep the proofs? As long as their hearts desire. :o)
Do you retain the copyright for the photos? So this is where I stand out from other photographers. The Bride and Groom OWN their photographs. The only thing I ask is if they sell or submit their photo to a blog or something, to at least talk to me first and vice versa.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos? I do, however I would never do it without talking to the Bride and Groom first.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client? I provide all the Post-edited digital files on Disks for the Bride and Groom.
Will images be available for viewing online? I am usually delivering between 300-700 images to each couple. With that large of quantity, it is hard to upload them to the web. I will post around 30-50 on my BLOG and a additional 20 on Facebook.
What kind of albums do you offer? I offer a 11x15 Coffee Table Photo book with 20 pages of the images the Bride and Groom chooses. This is included in my top 2 package.
When will the client get the final album? I give the bride and groom 3 weeks to take a look at all their images, and then I wil check in with them for a list of photographs they want me to use. From there, it will usually be about 3 weeks for everything to get printed and finished.
