Mariachi Tesoro de Tucson is a non-profit mariachi group that started performing in August 2006. Mariachi Tesoro has 13 musicians, from 10 to 16 years old. Our Music Director is Jaime Valenzuela, a professional mariachi and music educator in Tucson, Arizona. Mariachi Tesoro is the second group he's established in Tucson; the first was Mariachi Milagro Juvenil. He recently started a third group called Mariachi Corazón de Tucson.
Since the beginning, Tesoro musicians have attended the Tucson International Mariachi Conference and participated in the Student Showcase. In 2009, Mariachi Tesoro was one of five mariachi groups invited to play at the Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference.
