Your wedding cake is one of the focal points of your reception. Each cake I make is skillfully made from scratch and is as delicious as it is dazzling. I work with you to create your unique cake that distinctly reflects you and the theme and style of your wedding, and tells your story.
I have been baking creatively for 10 years. It began with a cake decorating book my mom gave me, when I was planning my daughter's first birthday. The cake was a success. I was working in a very technical field, but now I had designed and constructed an edible structure. A new skill and passion were born. Over time, I gravitated towards a new profession, an Architecture of the Senses. After years of baking cakes for family and friends, and with experience in both architecture and engineering, I believed I had a solid background for a custom cake business. I launched Gateau in 2008, but I felt there was one thing missing - a background in pastry. I researched that field and enrolled in the Pastry School at the Le Cordon Bleu College in Scottsdale, Arizona. I was taught by some of the top pastry chefs in the business, and my baking skills and knowledge expanded exponentially. My technical and art background are invaluable to my work, as is my strong understanding of the science of baking.
All of my cakes, fillings and frostings are made from scratch. No hydrogenated fats, I use organic ingredients where available, unbleached and unbromated flour and aluminum free leaveners. You can taste the difference.
