I started my floral design career with my mother, in a small design studio, very similar to mine, where she planned weddings, and I was her designer. I was fortunate to have complete artistic freedom, giving me to ability to develop my natural eye for style. This is where the world of wedding flowers opened up to me. I became passionate about turning ideas into a brides vision for the most important day of her life. That passion gave me an outlet to turn wedding flowers into art.
When I was presented with the opportunity go out on my own, I took it! I decided that I would rather have a flower shop specializing in wedding flowers than a more traditional shop. I love all aspects of the flowers business, but its wedding flowers that really get me excited!
I believe that designing flowers for a wedding is completely different than designing day to day flowers. I think it is specific to each bride and I only approach it that way. I meet with my clients first to get a feel for their style. We flip through magazines, brainstorm and bounce ideas off of each other. Then, I create a custom proposal, keeping all of that in mind. When the time comes to design, I am involved in every aspect, from ordering flowers to final set-up. Nothing leaves my shop without my hands touching it.
Some things you should know about me&My style is very free. While your flowers should reflect your unique style, its inevitable that mine will come through too. I like to mix tradition with modern. I like to try new ideas and techniques to make each wedding unique. I can take inspiration from other designers work, but I don't copy pictures. (Remember, this is my art!) I prefer flowers to have a natural quality. If it looks like its growing there, I think its beautiful. Im very detail oriented. I think the details add to the overall look. I am very nostalgic...I think your wedding should have some inspiration from your past. I have a very hard time with typical flowers that you see all the time. The best compliment you can give me is, Ive never seen anything like this before!
