Hors d’oeuvres 101
Hors d’oeuvres are irresistible—and, for many guests, the best part of the meal. When it comes to creating the perfect hors d’oeuvres lineup, Meryl Snow of Feastivities Events, 215-475-3338, feastivitiescatering.com, a catering and event-planning company in Philadelphia, has great tips. Ten different types of hors d’oeuvres will provide a diverse spread. "It may sound like a lot, but I like to give guests a chance to try many different options," says Meryl. Also, ask your caterer to point out the hors d’oeuvres that are always a hit with guests and add those to your menu. Meryl cites beef negamaki with tamari-ginger remoulade, tuna sashimi spring rolls and shrimp and wild mushroom cornets (left) as some favorites.
