The Wedding: Take Two
If your budget or space is preventing you from inviting everyone you’d like, host an irreverent free-for-all the next night. After maxing out their guest list at 120, Brooklyn couple Alexis Karl and Ken Weaver realized that there were still so many friends they wanted to celebrate with that it warranted a second party. The wedding proper took place on a Friday, at the Queens County Farm Museum. The next night, the couple threw a party at their friends’ bar, Union Pool, 718-609-0484, unionpool.net, in Brooklyn. The couple recruited talented friends—DJs, musicians, burlesque dancers, even professional trapeze artists—to perform, and since the space rental and entertainment were gratis (and guests paid for their own drinks), the couple was able to celebrate without spending a fortune.
