Alternative Bachelorette Party
Taking a wine tour of California’s Napa Valley sounds like a dream bachelorette weekend, until you consider the time and expense of traveling so far. Luckily, Texas’ burgeoning wine region—in the Hill Country, right outside of Austin—is a perfect compromise. Texas Hill Country Wineries, 866-621-9463, texaswinetrail.com, conducts five "trail events" throughout the year, each including visits to all of the region’s 22 wineries. The trail events are self-guided, so you can enjoy them at your own pace, and include all entrance and most tasting fees. The tour company also offers a list of area accommodations, spas, restaurants and limo companies (so you don’t have to designate a driver). Cost: $25 and up per person.
