Houston Ideas We Love

Well Matched

This season, designer and Texas native Lela Rose, lelarose.com, based her new line of gowns on different types of reception sites. We asked her to highlight one of her favorite looks and then set out to find the Houston space that best shows off her work. "Since I’m from Texas, I wanted to design a gown that would complement a ranch setting. This one is made of a lightweight cotton-and-silk voile that’s not shiny or sparkly, but rather very pared-down. Also, the bodice is corded, which is an old-fashioned Americana-type sewing technique not normally seen on wedding dresses." The Ranch, $7,995. Where to wear it: George Ranch Historical Park, georgeranch.org.
