Have Your Dress Become a Cake
Like any work of art, finalizing your wedding-cake design can be a complex, creative process. One bride drew inspiration from her dress to create her dream cake. Cake designer Linda Fedewa of A Piece O’ Cake, 517-333-6881, in East Lansing, used a fabric swatch of Halie Soifer’s Monique Lhuillier gown as her guide. The taupe-colored sugar flower and ribbon cake topper matched the satin sash and rosette on Halie’s gown, and Fedewa was able to duplicate the lace using a brush embroidery technique. The Result: "The cake matched my gown perfectly," Halie recalls. "And it tasted fantastic, too."
