Hiring a lighting designer may not rank as highly on your list of priorities as say, hiring a florist or baker—but it should. Though the average cost for lighting a reception space is over $1,500, strategic lighting goes a long way. She and production supervisor Todd Finch gave this ballroom at the Buckhead hotel a warm feel by lighting the room with an amber wash by flooding the room with a single color using gels. With effective lighting, the site, flowers and decor can be emphasized in all their glory, and the not-so-fabulous things can be significantly camouflaged.
