The Isolationists: You want to roll like Robinson Crusoe...but with a nicer place to sleep.
Clayoquot Wilderness Resort Outpost at Bedwell River, British Columbia.
Go wild (literally) at this luxury eco-resort nestled in the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere reserve on the west end of Vancouver Island. To access the camp, guests hop a boat from the island village of Tofino or take a short floatplane ride from Vancouver. Then they board a horse-drawn "shuttle" to the Outpost, which comprises 20 guest tents, two library tents, two dining tents, three spa tents, and a games tent, accessible via a rain-forest-canopied boardwalk. The wide range of organic spa treatments will give you plenty of relaxation. Should you want to embrace the great outdoors, the resort's conservation program offers guests the chance to help with local research projects like bear-mapping and whale-feeding. Open May-October.
