Beauty on the Go

Less is more when it comes to getting glam on the road

Wedding Destination Weddings: Beauty on the Go
Pack Light

As in, empty that bulky cosmetics bag, baby. Celebrity makeup artist Rex, who's powdered the noses of Diane Lane and Jodie Foster, says all you really need to stay stunning on your trip is mascara, lip gloss, and moisturizer. He loves the eminently totable Hook Up by Mark, a lip gloss ($5) and mascara ($5) that can be attached by a connector or bought separately, and Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid Foundation ($30), a triple treat that delivers gossamer coverage, moisturizer, and SPF 42. At night, add powder to diffuse the shine picked up by lights—Rex likes Shiseido Luminizing Brush Powder ($45), which crams both brush and powder into a tiny cylinder.

Get Versatile

If you're headed somewhere that requires your full arsenal, look for an all-in-one kit, such as Trish McEvoy's Little Black Card ($48.50). About the size of a business-card holder, this double-decker compact contains a full complement of lip gloss, eye shadow, eyeliner, concealer, blush, face shimmer, and pressed powder—and it fits in the pouch of McEvoy's Deluxe Petite Brush Set ($85), to boot. McEvoy's tip: Using an eyeliner brush, gently tap the dark shade from the Little Black Card along your upper lash line, darkening your eyelash roots for a fresh, youthful look.

Stop Drying

Honeymoon hair should be easy, so leave the mechanical monstrosity at home. If you can't relax unless your locks are tamed into Aniston-esque perfection, keep in mind that most hotels now have a dryer in every room. Just be sure to ask before you go.

Ride the Waves

If you're headed to the Tropics, make use of Mother Nature's best styling product. Natalie, of the John Barrett Salon in New York City, recommends filling a spray bottle with sea water, misting your locks, and scrunching. Voilà!—sexy ocean waves. You can even try it at home. Simply add a teaspoon of salt and a drop of suntan oil to a bottle of tap water, and spritz away.

Double up

Don't tote every heavy bottle of gel and mousse in your bathroom cabinet: Natalie's boss, John Barrett, recommends buying a small plastic travel bottle (you can find one in any drugstore) and filling it with equal parts of his Bee Healed Treatment Serum ($30) and Bee Wavy Curl Enhancing Balm ($12), a concoction that will add volume and tame the frizzies whether you opt to blow-dry or not. Also consider two-in-one space-saving products like L'Occitane Honey Foaming Jelly ($17), a combo shower gel/shampoo; and Cetaphil cleanser ($7), which doubles as a makeup remover.
