It's that time of year again! Another wonderful bridal fashion week just wrapped, which means we get to revel in the latest wedding dress trends to emerge from the runways. And from a vibrant Spanish-inspired aesthetic to more romantic 3D floral appliqués and fully sheer silhouettes, this seasons wasn't short of interesting new designs for brides-to-be to covet.
Yet again, layers played an important role in the most recent bridal presentations. Whether it was frilly capelets on a Spanish-inspired number at Oscar de la Renta or an asymmetrical tiered skirt at Monique Lhuillier, creating dimension, volume, and optical illusions with dress shapes was key to the Fall 2016 designs.
Another majorly important feature was texture. 3D florals popped up on the runways yet again, taking a more ethereal turn with delicate organza appliqués (some even dotted with crystals and beads!) blooming onto gowns at Naeem Khan and Reem Acra.
The illusion of seeing — and not seeing — made for an extra sensual lineup of new gowns. Whether it was the fully sheer silhouettes at Inbal Dror and Theia, or the illusion cutouts at Christos. Lingerie-inspired looks cropped up, too, with silky slip gowns and the most delicate laces gracing the runway too.
Modern, minimalist styles, were also a hit. And while these sheaths were certainly understated, they were anything but simple.
We can't forget some of the most influential decades in this seasons' slew of new designs! The 90s played a big part, with spaghetti straps proving to be, well, the strap of choice, and fluttery sleeves and draped silhouettes, reminiscent of the 1930s, making a mark as well.
