Carissa and Brian in Malibu, CA\\nA seasoned wedding pro and her design-savvy groom host a chic oceanside affair with organic, architectural details.\\nBrian's boutonniere featured sea fan and a single succulent. \\"Brian's grandfather passed away about a year before the wedding,\\" says Carissa. \\"He was an avid gardener and had potted some succulents—we replanted them at our home and I was able to use one to create the boutonniere.\\"\\nCarissa's bouquet was comprised entirely of white phalaenopsis orchids.\\nDuring the ceremony guests sat on wooden benches.\\nThe flower girl carried a purse filled with orchids, succulents, and roses; the ring bearer's \\"pillow\\" was actually a piece of coral.\\nThe cocktail party-style reception was held in the same place as the ceremony and began immediately following the recessional.\\nGuests could sit in one of many lounge areas, which were decorated with capiz shell \\"chandeliers.\\"\\nInstead of signing a traditional guest book, friends and family wrote notes on postcards and hung them from a tree. The bride's mother then gathered the cards and mailed them to the couple throughout their first year of marriage.\\n\\"We wanted the reception to feel like an upscale but intimate party at a summerhouse on the coast,\\" she says of their oceanfront venue.\\nFor their first dance, the couple chose \\"If There's Love\\" by Citizen Cope.\\nFor dessert, guests also enjoyed sweets like miniature root beer floats and cookies with milk. Catering was by Urban Palate, and desserts were by The Dotted Apron.
