Lori and Todd always had fond memories of the times they spent at their friend's barn just outside Saratoga, New York. So when they were ready to choose a venue for their June 23 wedding, the naturally rustic space came to mind.
To host the ceremony Lori had envisioned, the barn (formerly used for storage) required some renovation. As the couple began clearing out the space, they found creative ways to transform much of the clutter into wedding decor.
As guests arrived at the celebration, they were greeted with a summer supper under the late-afternoon sun, giving the couple time to relax with their guests before the sunset ceremony. An interpretive chant and African drums, played by the bride's cousin, summoned friends and family to what the couple now refer to as the "wedding barn," which glowed with 300 votive candles and torches.
After the ceremony the party continued under a white tent, where good wine and great conversation flowed throughout the night. "It was like dinner and a show," remarked the bride's cousin. As guests left the reception many remarked that it was the best wedding they had ever attended.
