When they were freshmen at M.I.T., Julie Lin and Rich Rosalez couldn't avoid each other if they tried. "We lived in the same dorm and were in almost all the same classes, so we spent a lot of time together," says Julie. The pair's friendship quickly developed into a steady relationship. But when Julie went to medical school in Houston and Rich headed to New York for law school, they were put to the test. After spending so much time together in college, being apart "was trying," says Rich. But soon Julie found herself moving to New York to do her residency—and to be with Rich.
On February 13, 2004, Rick was finally ready to pop the question. He planned on proposing during dinner at the Rainbow Room. But before they left Julie's apartment, she spotted the ring, so he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him right there. "It was so emotional and special," says Julie. "The night was perfect." At the restaurant, a singer even sang their song, "I Can't Help Falling In Love."
