What do you say when, after hours of scouring the racks at store after store, you finally slip on a wedding dress that is just so right? When you feel relaxed and beautiful and a million other adjectives? When you can finally envision yourself saying your vows to your soon-to-be spouse? "This is the Dress!" you're bound to exclaim (if all those wedding shows and movies you've binged on were correct, that is!). But now you can sigh those four words oh so literally, as A.L.C.—the cool and contemporary brand loved by It girls everywhere—has a new capsule collection known as just that. Lovingly coined "The Dress," this collection of fashionable slips and easygoing silhouettes is practically made for California-cool, laid-back brides and weddings that are anything but stuffy.
Non-bridal brides, prepare for the all the Insta likes to roll in. A.L.C. founder Andrea Lieberman designed these flouncy frocks with a specific goal in mind: "to make the wearer feel confident, strong, and like the best version of herself." Umm… those all certainly sound like things brides should exude on their wedding day, no?
"As a stylist, I worked to put together looks for some of the biggest moments in my clients' careers," designer Andrea Lieberman herself tells Brides. "Now, it’s exciting to design styles that will be worn by women in their most important moments."
Coming in an array of traditional (and nontraditional!) neutrals like snowy whites, whispers of beige, a soft yet strong navy, and an unexpected black, these silky dresses offer up a fresh take on femininity and redefine what a wedding dress should look like. "I think 'The Dress' collection is a perfect cool-girl alternative to traditional bridal looks," explains Lieberman. "The dresses are fun and effortless and made for a good party!"
Not only that, but they're easy to party in! With ruffled tiers that cascade to the ground—but without a ball-gown skirt and or a stitch of itchy tulle in sight—these babies move with the music. And with playful yet simple and refined details, like open waists that reveal hints of skin, thin straps, clean seams, and plunging necklines, these dresses will leave guests breathless and you totally at ease.
Lieberman's favorite piece from the collection? "It’s hard to pick," she muses. "But the 'Titus' is a favorite among the A.L.C. girls!" With its beachy bohemian silhouette, racerback-bra-top bodice, and cascading ruffles, we're pretty smitten with 'Titus' too!
Lieberman suggests pairing any one of the frocks from A.L.C.'s "The Dress" collection with a "no-fuss heel or flat sandal and simple gold hoops." (She would be the one to know, after all!) But these looks aren't limited to just brides. Bridesmaids can also rock the frocks when they walk down the aisle. And with wedding season about to hit, even guests can get in on the fun and don "the Dress" to all the soirees they've scored invites to this summer. (Remember, they come in more than just white!)
"We definitely had wedding guests in mind when designing this collection," Lieberman notes. "The dress styles and color options were chosen so that they could work for brides, bridesmaids, and the guests too. They're styles for the attention-grabbing (but never seeking) woman."
As for her own wedding-guest style, Lieberman says, "I like to look sophisticated but still effortless. I usually wear something comfortable, for endless hours of dancing!"
And all the easygoing styles from "The Dress" definitely hit all those marks. After all, the key to getting through wedding season is, according to Lieberman, to "just have fun and own it. Wear what makes you comfortable and confident and enjoy each moment." Preach, girl.
