My boyfriend and I both want to slim down before our June 2011 wedding. We're low on dough, so we're already cutting back on portions to help our goal and save us some money. I'm not fat, just a little bigger than I'd like to be, and both of us are kind of lazy and don't do much exercising. What's a good way to start with this? And how much should we plan on losing?
In order for anyone to help with how much you should lose, they'll need heights and current weights. I believe the "healthy" amount of weight to lose is 1-2 poulds per week.
If you have access to a pool, swimming is a very useful form of exercise. It works your entire body. If not, get out and start walking/jogging/running. You don't need any equipment for that other than a pair of good, supportive sneakers.
You have a year to get ready. So you need to figure out something you can stick with. Look at it as a lifestyle change, not a short-term goal to prepare for the wedding. If you have a hard time staying motivated, sign up for races of some sort. If you need to train for a 5K run, you may be more likely to stick to your exercise routine, than if you're just doing it to do it. I'm completing in a triathlon on Sunday - I have gone to the gym much more since I decided to do the triathlon than I ever did before I had a specific reason to.
