Is This Wedding Site 'The One'?
Posted: Jan 12, 2009 7:53 AM

My FH and I looked at 3 wedding sites this weekend and we seemed to really like this one particular one even though it's not as "pretty" as the other ones. The other ones had a little pond/river over looking the gazebo and the place that we really like just has trees in the background. The reason that we really liked this particular place is because the lady (wedding coordinator) was sooo nice to us. We spent 2 hours chatting about my wedding. She gave me helpful hints and tips and ideas. She seemed really sincere. The other places we went to the lady showing us around weren't as nice and helpful and they seemed to be rushed. The place that we like also has history behind it since it's a really old place and it's family owned. The feeling was mutual with my FH and I. We both really liked the place and I could actually see myself getting married there.
The only down side is that it's more money than the other places we saw. But I think it may be worth paying the extra money and feeling comfortable than going a little bit chaper and not liking the place. What do you guys think?
Should we book that place we like or continue to look at other sites? The good thing is that the lady took my number and is willing to call me just incase someone else wants to book it on the same day as ours. Suggestions? :)

WHOOPS I POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG THREAD :(

Go with your gut. You both like this site, and nothing is more important than personnel who really will work with you and make you feel comfortable. As long as you're not busting your budget to have this place, it sounds like a winner.

I was in the same boat as you. I was planning on have the wedding in a state park to save some money, but I got bored one day and was playing around on a web site that lists all kinds of places in my area that hold weddings. I orignally wanted to have my wedding in a garden and play up how spring is a new life and the perfect time to get married and start a new life together. But I found this venue that just kept catching my eye. Everytine I would get online to look for sites I would keep going back to that one, and that one although more than I wanted to pay was so much less than any of the other places I found so we decided to go there, and look. I didnt want to leave, I could picture my wedding there so perfetly and clearly....and the guy in charge was soooooo sweet and kept telling me all I had to worry about on the day of if we do our wedding there was to look pretty and smile. He was so nice, not rushed, and we felt soooo comfertable at the site we just could not pass it up. If its the place your heart keeps saying I want to be there then go for it.....you could always cut the budget on something else so you can have it. But to me the site was one of the most important things.....Good luck!

CheetahAngel, I swear we keep reaching the same point at almost the exact same time! I am this close to booking the location in Las Vegas that I've had my eye on for the last couple of weeks. I've done a fair amount of research (at least, as much as can be done online) but I can't find another location that comes close. The second I saw the photos I could totally envision the ceremony happening there and I didn't want it to happen anywhere else!

I've talked to a couple of wedding planners and others who have had experience with how much these venues cost and I hear the fees that this place charges are very reasonable. I've read a few great reviews online. And imagine my surprise when I found that they offer packages that include the officiant, flowers, cake, DJ, linens, as well as the food and beverages. Sounds almost too good to be true, right?

But what makes me nervous is how quickly I'm ready to make the decision. The wedding isn't for almost two years yet here I am ready to put down a deposit! But like the PP's were saying, once you find a place that you feel is right in your gut (and you've done some research) you kinda have to trust yourself. And considering how popular our wedding date is going to be, better sooner than later. Let us know what you decide! :)

Haha MrsJohnson that is too funny how we are planning things at the same time. It sounds like you really like that place and if they include ALL of that then I would take it in a heart beat! Like everyone else said, that right place will come along and you have to trust your gut feeling. I think that place may be the one for me but I may still look at other places, cheaper places that I like. The good thing is that the lady told me she will call me incase someone else wants to book for that place too. Let us know what you decide too :)

The place I'm looking at allows you to get your full deposit back up until six months before your wedding date. So I can put the deposit down since I'm fairly sure I'll be having the wedding there, but if something else comes along then I still have the option to pull out of it for several months. That's somewhat of a relief!

It's great that the coordinator is willing to contact you in case there is other interest in the same venue that day. At least that gives you some time to look around at other options without feeling so pressured.

You know, now that I'm actually booking a site, it makes the idea of my wedding seem much less dream-like. I'm still not even used to using the term "fiancé"! ;)

I've actually said "boyfriend" a few times. It's almost worse when you have to go to the trouble of correcting yourself!

I think you should choose this site, because this lady apparently really wants you to have the best wedding ever, or maybe she is just pretending for now,but yes listen to your inner voice

Thanks Franco, but now I have that wedding site and another one to choose from. I can't decide between the two.
